Tulsi, or Holy Basil, is sacred in Hinduism, associated with Goddess Lakshmi and essential for worshipping Vishnu and Krishna. However, mythology explains why Tulsi is not offered to Lord Shiva, due to a curse from Vrinda after Shiva slayed her husband, Jalandhar. Similarly, Tulsi is not offered to Lord Ganesha after she cursed him when he declined her marriage proposal.
